VGMaps.com now has a new largest map!

Hope you've been enjoying the stats I've been rolling out regarding VGMaps.com when it hit 50,000 maps, including stuff like the smallest and largest maps.

But today, G.E.R. has submitted a new map that takes the crown for being the largest - the map of

Pharloom & The Citadel, from

Hollow Knight: Silksong (PC)!

At over 3.65 GIGAPIXELS, it is more than three times larger in area than the previously largest map by area, of all of Limbo (Xbox 360)!

At over 242 MEGABYTES, it is almost 1½ times larger in filesize than the previously largest map by filesize, of Niwen from Ori And The Will Of The Wisps (PC)!

Both of these games were also mapped by G.E.R.!

Stitching together around 420,000 screenshots from Hollow Knight: Silksong must not have been easy!

By my count, the 50,000th map was ozderya's "Stage 08" map from Pop Breaker (J) on the Game Gear.

But for that to be the 50,000th map, there had to be 49,999 before that.

So if you've ever contributed a map to VGMaps.com, then the congratulations and thanks go to you as well!

The site is a bit shy of 24 years old, and back in 2002 I didn't think I'd run this site for as long as I now have, let alone get to share this many maps, for over 3400 games on almost 60 different platforms!
