Can't wait. Sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome. :D

Hey Peardian, you said some of the backgrounds in Ocarina were special jpgs right?  I think the backgrounds in Parasite Eve might be the same kind of thing.  I used various TIM rippers and viewers and got a lot out of Parasite Eve but no main backgrounds.  How did you hack up Ocarina to get the jpgs out, and how did you know that was the situation in the first place?

It's pretty simple, really. First, I looked up what the JPEG format is like. It turns out it is quite simple and always starts with a specific unique header. Then, I simply popped the whole ROM into a hex editor and searched for that header. The headers tell you what size the image is, so I used them to copy the image's data, pasted it into a new empty file, and saved it with a .jpg extension.

I'm still working on Clock Town, and I have all of the interior areas done except for those in the east area. I'm working on the Milk Bar (probably the most difficult) and still have the Stock Pot Inn, Mayor's place, and Astral Observatory to do. Oh, and the Clock Tower face from the Final Day. I'm going to try to finish this map soon, or at least before July ends. It would be quite sad if a single map took me a whole year to complete.

Hmm, no luck.  They must be some other kind of images.  To bad there isn't anything for PSX like the tools you use to rip N64 graphics.  All thought there is one little VRML thing at Romhacking but it did nothing for me.

As for MM just take your time.  I'm sure they used lots of tricks they didn't for OoT.

Good news! It took me over half the year, but I finally finished Clock Town! Hopefully it will be up soon so you guys can see it. I put a lot of effort into it!

They're up!

On another note, why didn't anyone say anything for half a year that the Lost Woods were misnamed as "Lost Woords"?  :P

Love it!  I would have never guessed that the Deku Scrub Playground is the biggest room in Clock Town.  Neat that you kept the smoking chimney and added the Astral Observatory.

That map of Clock Town brought back a lot of good memories. Majora's Mask has always been my favourite Zelda game, the one whose world and people felt the most real. I'd love to see a remake of it for the 3DS (with an actual remastered soundtrack this time)!

Guess what? I made an extra version of both maps at a higher resolution! Specifically, the scale at which 1 pixel = 1 world unit, which is 250% what I normally render at. At this size, you'll be able to make out the little details they put into every building in town, such as the bugs crawling on the floor of the Stock Pot Inn and the food Gorman is eating in the Milk Bar. What other little details can you notice?

There's a secret backroom in the Swordsman's School?  I've never even been in there.

Once again, fantastic work. I really like the large versions since you can see more details.

Most impressive Peardian--and worth the wait!

There's a secret backroom in the Swordsman's School?  I've never even been in there.

Try going in there during the final hours of the final day. ;)

I haven't made any progress on any maps yet. I just forgot to post these renders I made of Clock Town. Try viewing them with your Nintendo 3DS!

Clock Town in 3D

I may end up doing more of these for the other maps depending on how they turn out.

The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D just announced for the 3DS mere moments ago!
