Quantcast stats for "vgmaps.com"

Demographics:

http://www.quantcast.com/vgmaps.com/demographics

According to this, there's a good chance you're an 18 to 24-year-old Caucasian male who makes an annual income of $30000 or less.  The head of your household is equally likely to have or not have college education, but there's a good chance there is a child aged 6-17 years old in your household.  How many of you fit that description?

Traffic:

http://www.quantcast.com/vgmaps.com/traffic

According to this, 25% of you are regulars who comprise of 45% of the share of visits.  There are no addicts, apparently.  What's up with that?  Anyway, each visit, you'll look at 8.38 pages.  Have you looked at your 8.38 pages today?

Anyway, this is some crazy data.  They say this is "sparse"...whatever!  How do they come up with this?  These are for the US...does the US take some kind of Internet-usage census or something, that they can tie directly to IP addresses?  Pretty cool, I just didn't realize that surfing the web might be telling the world how much college education my parents have.  o_0

There are people who fill in a form about their household and then have some software spying on their surfing. Then they extrapolate it up. If you sign up they will track all your visitors too, probably for money, and make some more extrapolations based on that (eg. people who visit VGMaps also frequent websites X, Y and Z so they are probably in the demographics expected for those sites).

Since VGMaps isn't hugely popular, the numbers are small so the accuracy of the extrapolations is poor. Hence the "sparse" message.

At the time of this writing, I like the way the graph is going.

And this graph just shows up to right before the April Fools' joke.

Maybe I don't need gimmicks, I just need to provide more of what we do best here...maps of real games.

Ironically there were only two updates in all of March while the traffic went up so much.

Let's see how much of the demographic I fit... 18 to 24-year-old Caucasian... Yup, that's about it. Even the "male" part is off.

As the demographic description goes on it just gets more and more silly as to how specific it gets. How does our own personal website traffic tell them if we have younger siblings between such-and-such an age?

Well, there seems to have been a new high sometime in May.  The average that month I'd guess is roughly about as high as April at its peak.  And the rank shot up about 30000 if memory serves me correctly.  (EDIT: Actually, 30024.)  Nice.  A good upward trend overall.

Tell your friends!  :P

That's weird.  I wonder why it dropped considerably in September.  :(
