Topic: Headed to Canada next weekend

Wednesday was my wife's and my anniversary (married 3 years), and I'm planning a trip to Niagara Falls Canadian side for the weekend.



Anyone been there recently and have suggestions of what to do? Maybe bring snow boots?? (I saw some lake effect snow smack the area today, more than 6 inches of the white stuff.) I'm pretty sure we're going to do the Maid of the Mist, perhaps the butterfly atrium. And the hotel rool has a heart shaped jaccuzzi ( :O )

Be sure to remind your American friends that when you cross the border, you aren't immediately brought into a frozen wasteland where people live in igloos without electricity.



Niagara Falls is nice, I guess.  Been there once long ago as a preteen.  Don't remember a lot about it.  There was a cheesy simulator ride that made it seem as if we were actually going over the falls.  The Maid of the Mist was neat.  And at certain times the water would smell funny.  Or at least I think I remember it that way.  Not too bad, though.  I really don't think I would be confusing it with the school field trip to the sewage treatment plant..

How warm does it get up there during the summer, Jon? We have a very big temperature range here in Colorado. Winters usually get to 10 degrees below zero, or colder, in the worst couple of weeks. Then, our summers usually peak at over 100 degrees fahrenheit. It was over 110 last year.



I think those numbers are -12.2, 37.8, and 43.3 degrees Celsius, respectively, if I'm remembering the conversion factor correctly.

I'll be disappointed about not seeing a bunch of igloos. Actually, when I think of igloos I think of northern Alaska. But even then I'm sure the usage of igloos is very limited, if at all any more.



We had snow yesterday, but it was just in the air. Buffalo Niagara got buried under 2 feet of the stuff. Sounds like a winter wonderland to me.

We use Celsius in Canada.  What I like about the climate in central Alberta is that it's easy to remember.



In the summer, it's usually 20 degrees.  On hot days it can get to 30 degrees, and we've had freak days of 40 degrees.



In the winter, it's usually -20 degrees.  On cold days it can get to -30 degrees, and we've had freak days of -40 degrees.



Of course, converting ino Fahrenheit so that you'll understand better, the range probably doesn't look as even.



In recent years our winters have been noticeably warmer, though, and with less snow.  It almost seems like -30 would be a freaky day now, and -40 has probably been unheard of recently.

We used to get a lot more snow, but then this global warming stuff has made our winters warmer.

I dumped $25 in my tank and only got half a tank. Conversely, I spent $22 in the US and filled up.



Then there's the lack of parking, rather the lack of free parking. But I guess I can say 'whatever' to that. The streets were pretty much in decent shape.



The important part is we had a good time. It was cloudy and rainy the entire time so we didn't do much outside. One of the gift shops had the most awesome Transformers sticker book. Too bad it was $10.00. I'm not willing to spend that much on a sticker book.



We spent the majority of the time on the Canadian side. The American side was under construction and difficult to navigate. And it was very easy to get in Canada. The line out was long, but it was just as easy to cross the border.



Some time I'd like to see what Canada is like where there aren't a bunch of tourist traps.

Yeah, gas prices lately have been pretty high, but  not as high as they got earlier this year. It's one of the numerous reasons why I don't own a car.

The streets were pretty much in decent shape.

If you ever come into Quebec, pay attention to the state of the road as you cross the border. The change is pretty jarring, as our streets and roads are truly horrible. Some people claims it's because of our cold climate, but there's no way the climate could change this radically right at the frontiers!



But seriously, I hope you had a nice trip overall and that the wife liked it

The funny thing about the gas is every place was advertising 84 - 85 cents. But they don't specify the amount. At least in the US its displayed per gallon. What is it, like 4 liters in a gallon? At least I wasn't in Europe, where I hear gas is like 5 or 6 bucks per gallon.



The wife liked it. We had a romantic room, so I ended up liking it, too



Oh man. I forgot I was going to talk about the tv.

I am so jealous. First of all, we watched 'From Dusk Till Dawn', and it was uncut, on normal tv. Boobs and all. Not that I pulled it out to wank to the movie, but I really think that movies should be shown as they were made. Just have the appropriate warnings so the little ones can go away or just turn the tv off. Though I also believe if you don't make a big deal out of something, then its not a big deal. So, we got an eye full. Then flipping through and I found more stuff, though this was porn, and I'm not sure if it was a special cable channel or not. The bad thing was these chicks had fake titties. And I think those are the ugliest things. Though one girl had real ones so that was very easy on the eyes.



Anyway, I wish the US did not have such a puritan outlook on life. I love looking at the female form, and its not nasty if you have the right mindset. And if you don't, masterbation is healthy!
