« on: March 10, 2015, 07:09:34 am »
Hi,

These are Zelda live maps. They're all animated using javascript.

Update:
- Zelda DX

I've always liked the idea of animated maps (didn't you make a Mega Man III one of Shadow Man's stage a while ago, Revned?), but I didn't think it would be easy for a large map like A Link To The Past's.  Certainly would be bulky in GIF form.  But this page you have shared is really neat.  Considering it's one of my favourite games, of course I would like it, but still, wow!  (And it really reinforces my point about later Zelda console games' overworlds being too quiet in comparison...)

The dungeons would be neat to see.  Would bosses be actively moving around when Link isn't there yet though?  For example, Kholdstare starts out frozen, doesn't he/it/them?  I guess that's a creative choice you will be making...

It is true after working in the map it is quite crowded, there are enemies everywhere. It was a hell of work creating code for all of them. Fortunately, the engine allows re-use code even between different enemies.

About the bosses, that is an interesting question. I didn't think about it yet. We are working in the dark world now, maybe with the necessary time and if the engine allows it live bosses could be a nice feature.

You can see more projects here:

This certainly is amazing.  And is does solve the problem of how to animate maps.

Seeing the whole map with everything animated and all of the creatures scurrying around brings a big smile to my face. Pretty cool!

The movement patterns of enemies in platformer games makes them ill-suited for something like this, but it seems perfect for top-down view games like this. I bet the world of Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire would look great like this, too, with all of the little trainers running around and stuff.

Thank you, but the high Internet traffic killed the server and even today the map cannot be fully loaded.  :(

Looks great!

But, is it only going to be up for a month?  The page says it will be down in September 2015.  :/

September will be the last month. The hosting service expire in October, but keep checking the site because there will be updates for the engine.

Thanks for the ideas.

I've tried Google sites long time ago but was impossible, there is no way to run the project.

About GitHub pages, I didn't know anything about it. I’m going to try it, maybe this will be the solution.
