Nintendo Vs. Transformers
« on: July 10, 2010, 10:16:41 pm »
When I don't have many video game map submissions to put up on a slow weekend like this, I find other OCD-fueled things to do.  Like putting this together, that I thought about months ago:

As a Nintendo fan and a Transformers fan, I was always aware that Mario and Optimus Prime shared the same colours - red and blue, with a touch of white.

But recently I noticed that other characters on both sides shared the same colours.  Now, bright colours are indeed common among characters that appeal to kids (or children of all ages), but when I remembered the Pikachu-themed Volkswagen Beetle, I began to think up some more connections between similarly-coloured Nintendo and Transformers characters.  The results are here.

Or here's a 1680 x 1050 wallpaper-sized version:

...For those of you who forgot my previous geeky wallpaper I made, click here to see how Star Wars and Star Trek are connected...

For a second there, I thought you were asking us to choose between the two, which to me would be like asking me which eye I wanted to see ripped out of my head  :o

Regarding the actual post, I actually don't have much to say. I've never really been into symbolism like that.

I don't know if I'd call it symbolism...I just think it's neat.

If I hard artistic skills (*coughbustin98coughanyonewhousesdeviantartcough*) I would actually draw each pair teaming up, or fighting, or amalgamated.  Since I don't, I can just hope this image might inspire someone who does to do so.

A semi that transforms into Mario would be pretty cool...

EDIT: Hooray, RMC posted this on GoNintendo!

That is quite interesting how the color scheme matches, and it does make me look at Transformers differently. Even more so, Link & Springer because Springer had a sword in TF:TM.

Although I gotta say, Kirby & Unicron = LMAO!!

Well, Takara in Japan *did* make a Mickey Mouse that turned into a semi, and a Donal Duck that turned into a Volkswagen Beetle...

I use deviantArt and don't consider myself artistic at all.

Yeah, that's rather creepy and it's best we all forget that ever existed >_>

Why choose between Nintendo and Transformers? You can get both at the same time:

The two bots above are from Transformers Animated, and are named Pipes and Huffer, but are both designed after Mario and Luigi. They started as joke characters on an April's Fools image, then became canon with the publication of The Allspark Almanac Vol. 2, which I now hold in my hand :). They even get profiles written by each other with an Italian accent and which pretty much describe their jobs as the cybertronian equivalent of plumbers!
