The April Fool maps are probably circulating around the web right now. Even if it is not April Fools, the impressive nature of the project naturally lends itself to spreading across the internet. People are like "Wow! This is cool. I have to show it to my friends."

Whenever there's a guest spike on my forums it's because the search engine bots are going nuts. That, and the spam bots, there's 6 of them fighting the filters right now for example.

I don't even remember the counter reaching 1.2 million.  I look today and it's 1.7 million hits.  o_0

Doesn't your "hit counter", or host, offer referrer stats/log analysis?

Darn, no major spikes.  Maybe it's just because I've been busy with Final Fantasy XII the past couple weeks (I borrowed my friend's PS2) that I didn't notice the number climbing gradually.



Still, it can't have been that long ago that it was at 1.1 million.  Weird.  Not that I'm complaining!



As of now it's at 1,777,779.

EDIT: Ten minutes later it's at 1,779,404; 1625 more.  That's 162.5 per minute...that's insane...

EDIT: Another twenty minutes later, 1,781,856; 2452 more.  That's another 122.6 per minute this past twenty, or 135.9 per minute averaged over the past half hour.  That's still higher than I'm used to seeing, I'm sure of it.



But again, if I'm not seeing any major spikes, maybe the behaviour of the counter changed, which would make more sense...
