I will give a go at mapping this game.  It took me a while, but I find the Famicom Disk version for this game.  I believe that is the one the Wii import is based on.  Just to verify does the Wii have a difficulty select on the title screen?  Also is the Title Scree in Japanese for the Wii version?

I answered all my questions by checking a video of the Wii version on youtube.  I have started mapping this game now that I know I'm mapping the right version.

Thanks a lot!  The World 2-1 link's broken, by the way.

Wow, these maps do take me back... It was one of the first NES game I rented at the local video store as a kid. It was plugged into a Famicom adapter and had a cheap label on it with "Baby Mario" written on it, and we all really thought it was a Mario game, just one not brought to America.

That said, I wasn't really good at this game, and when I played it on an emulator not long ago, I noticed just how many worlds I never cleared on my own. I'm pretty sure I remember the cartridge allow you to change the starting world on the title screen, which is why I remembered playing the CPU world but not the pencils and rulers one nor any of the underwater stages either.

Thanks for the maps snesmaster :)

I'm glad you enjoyed them.  The version you played back as a kid was a Chinese Version of the game.  That version did let you select the stage on the title screen.  The other versions you had to enter a code first before you could select the stages.  What country where you in when you rented the game?

Good old Canada, though such Chinese cartridges were actually not that rare, and I knew several kids who got some from flea markets.
