What is the best way for me to get Dracula off here and onto a black background?

Should I use photoshop and change the bg color to black, then crop out the particular Dracula sprite I want? Or should I used something else like Lasso Tool?

Select the image and say "copy".
Go into paint and say "paste"
Select the eye dropper and right click that blue Grey background to get it as the second color.
Say "undo".
Select the paint bucket and fill the whole screen with black.
Select the marque tool (thing that makes rectangular selections) at the top of the tool box.
Pick the marque tool's lower option (with the blue, red, and green shapes) from the box below the tools.
Say "paste".

Photoshop is poison for things like this because it massively over complicates the situation.  Once the background is black you can use the marque tool to make boxes around individual sprites and cut them out one by one.

I wanted to say exactly that but I didn't know the name of some tools which made explaining it difficult for me. Since Paint is my main mapping tool, I can use this sequence of actions several times per minute sometimes

Heh. In Paint Shop Pro 7:

- eye dropper, right-click to select background colour
- select tool, select
- copy
- paste as transparent

Or:

- promote to a layer
- magic wand the BG colour
- select -> select similar
- hit Delete

Thanks guy, I dont have Paint Shop Pro 7 though, you have to pay for that dont you?

Trop's tutorial only requires Paint, which is the basic drawing program that comes with Windows. *Assuming* you're on a PC with Windows installed of course...

Yes, both PSP and Photoshop are commercial. PSP7 is not available any more, though.
