Today we got the map for the Amazon stage in DuckTales for the NES. Why is this important? Well, long ago, (well, sometime in 1990) when the NES was still the hottest thing around, I got a preview issue of Nintendo Power. This preview issue didn’t have much, ‘cause it was just a taste of what this still kind of new publication had to offer. The one thing that I really liked about this preview issue was that it had a portion of a strategy section featuring DuckTales, with the Amazon map. I think my love for accurate video game maps made me love Nintendo Power back in the NES/Super NES days, where almost whole games tended to be mapped out in the magazine itself, and not some standalone strategy guide. Before video games went into 3D, Nintendo Power was king (also because it actually had lots of original stuff like comics, and they didn’t yet advertise in the magazine, and the Internet wasn’t popularly available yet, etc.). I ended up subscribing beginning in Jan. 1991 when they offered a copy of Dragon Warrior with the subscription…but I don’t subscribe anymore…not since Dec. 2001… I guess seeing this Amazon map from DuckTales made me reminisce, and it I guess this same map could’ve planted the seed of the inspiration that became VGMaps.com. Maybe.

There’s no doubt that I am a Zelda fan. So when I received Alex Foster’s Link To The Past Dark World maps last week, I was overjoyed. And now another contributor who goes by Osrevad has sent in the complete Koholint map for Link’s Awakening! I’m ecstatic! Check it out in the GB / GBC section!

Speaking of Zelda, there’s more Zelda goodness on the way for the GameCube. As if there wasn’t enough already. I’m not complaining, though.

Well, we’ve finally got a new section for Xbox maps! The first map is for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.

We’ve also got a huge update, including putting up a GBA map (Golden Sun: The Lost Age), some NES maps (Marble Madness), a PS2 map (Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness), and the completion of the Dark World from the Super NES’s The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past! As I’ve mentioned several times before, it was the mapping of the Light World that made me start this site, and now the Dark World is completed! Thanks go to Alex Foster!
