Site News: June 23, 2002 – 11:39:24 MST – Punch-Out!! Sequel Petition Postedposted by JMTL

The title of this post says it all, but in case you don’t know what "Punch-Out!!" is, it’s one of Nintendo’s boxing games that have become popular initially by Mike Tyson himself before he became known to bite off ears. In the first game of the series on the NES, you play the role of a rookie fighter trying to make it to the Dream Fight. You rank by fighting boxers in a set order, starting with the wimpy Glass Joe of Paris France to the super muscular, toned abs and biceps boxer, Super Macho Man of Los Angeles, California. The Dream Fight would be against Mike Tyson, except that in later releases of the Punch-Out!! game you would fight Mr. Dream instead. In 1994, Nintendo released a sequel to the game, calling it Super Punch-Out!! and released it on the Super NES. Better graphics and a possibility of infinite rapid super punches made this game that much cooler. Three characters from the original Punch-Out!! made it into this game: the unforgettable Bald Bull, Mr. Sandman, and of course the muscular Super Macho Man, now with a tan. For some reason, Nintendo has not released a sequel to this great game. Other companies have created some boxing games for us to fill the void, but for some, it’s not enough. Anyway, now that you have an idea about the games, sign the Punch-Out!! Sequel petition here. If you still don’t have an idea about the games, talk about in the forum.

Site News: June 23, 2002 – 11:01:34 MST – Front page fixesposted by JonLeung

I’m changing the layout slightly, especially here on the front page. The links have been moved up onto its own column on the right side ‘cause people couldn’t be bothered to scroll down enough to find them (I’ll think about moving the poll up, too, maybe). Also, if you’re using higher than 800 x 600 resolution (as you should be anyway), the width of the main page tables shouldn’t seem so skinny any longer. I may be fixing other things on this site during the day, so don’t be alarmed if things shift around.

Site News: June 21, 2002 – 10:09:23 MST – Animal Crossingposted by JonLeung

One of the most underrated upcoming games is Nintendo’s Animal Crossing for the GameCube. Be sure to check out the fan site Animal Crossing Online for news and discussion about this quirky and innovative game. Sometime soon, you may see over there some of the textures I designed for the game! You know, the Mario Paint stamp-style textures used in designing clothes, wallpaper, flooring, and more! Haven’t a clue as to what I’m talking about? All the more reason to check out Animal Crossing Online! And whether or not you know anything about Animal Crossing (or Animal Forest or Animal Forest +), their forums are wickedly cool and interesting, so I recommend them, and the people there are friendly.

Don’t forget that this site also has a forum too, to request maps and the like.

Site News: June 17, 2002 – 10:09:23 MST – Kirby Day!posted by JonLeung

It’s Kirby Day today! We’ve got maps for the NES game Kirby’s Adventure and the Super NES games Kirby’s Dream Course and Kirby – Super Star! All from the fine folks at Kirby’s Rainbow Resort and since they linked to me, they also get a permanent affiliate link on the left side of this page! Be sure to check them out if you’re a Kirby fan!

Site News: June 15, 2002 – 11:23:29 MST – Thanks, Kindar!posted by JonLeung

Thanks to KindarSpirit, who helps run the very cool Kirby’s Rainbow Resort, we now have lots of new maps over in the Super NES section, including Chrono Trigger and EarthBound maps, with possibly more to come. Very good job!

Also, we have a linked overworld map of Seiken Densetsu 3, which is the sequel to Secret of Mana.

These many Super NES maps should please you guys – on the poll, last I checked, the Super NES is the most requested console. Vote if you haven’t yet! The poll is on your left on the bar.

Maybe more maps later today – hope this big update makes up for the lack of them recently. Keep sending them in!

Site News: June 11, 2002 – 13:42:17 MST – New forum!posted by JonLeung

Thanks to ScruffyDeluxe over at Phuck IGN, we have a forum over there which will replace our current (and soon to be shut down) ezboard forum. Unfortunately, we do not yet see a way to transfer user data, so if you already signed up for the old forum, you will have to register again but with Phuck IGN. It’s painless, so don’t worry. (And if your ezboard account was a global one, you can use it on other ezboards, so it wasn’t a waste when you registered then.) I believe all of Phuck IGN’s vbulletin forums are just as easy to use as the ezboard ones – and I believe, even better in many respects. Phuck IGN’s forums also sport all kinds of game news that you may find interesting, besides those related to our site, so it’s well worth checking out. Go to our new forum now!

Site News: June 10, 2002 – 19:45:21 MST – Forum Status Reportposted by JMTL

Out of about 2500 page views on our forums, there were about 200 posts. That means approximately 8% of those views were posts. Thus, I have decided that we should take an offer from ScruffyDeluxe and move our forum there. Our forums will close in about 4 days.

Site News: June 8, 2002 – 15:42:51 MST – Help!posted by JonLeung

Well, what a busy week it’s been. I graduated (convocated?) from the University of Alberta yesterday, I replayed all of Paper Mario (we have a map from that here, by the way), a job interview and orientation at Playdium, and besides all this, there were other distractions that just got in the way. Hence, no updates. I missed making mention of June 6, the one month anniversary of the public access to this site. (Oh, yeah, and I got all 26 names correct in GameFAQs’ contest and somehow didn’t even get in the honour roll…oh well…) All in all, a strange and busy week. Oh, yeah, I’ve cleared the old news into the News Archives.

Now, let’s see here. I believe the free forum may have to come done soon, due to a lack of interest. If you want to request maps now, or just post anything at all to encourage us to keep them, do so now! But most importantly the requesting of maps.

And, I don’t like to say that we’re hurting for maps, but we kind of are. Please contribute if you have something! Almost any little thing will do. Check out our Other Stuff section for ideas of what I’ll put up here that aren’t necessarily maps. Artistic collages and the like.

I thank the people who have made mention of my site on theirs (ripoffer, Tempest of Shadows), as that has encouraged me to work harder on this site. If you run a site and want to help promote this site, there are nifty banners in the Link To Us section. If you need a new size, let me know.

I probably shouldn’t say this, as it was meant to be a surprise, but my brother and I are working on something cool that will, at the same time, promote our site. And you’ll love it. Chances are, I might be killing my bandwidth with this surprise (like last month with the E3 trailers) but this’ll probably be worth it. Or at least I hope so.

So remember, kiddies:

  1. Free forum – Request maps now! And don’t forget the poll on the left side.
  2. And Link To Us – ‘Cause I’m asking you nicely.
  3. And Contribute – ‘Cause I’m asking you really nicely. And you can send in things other than maps.
  4. And check back soon for a surprise!
