Site News: May 28, 2002 – 09:46:23 MST – Not dead yet… – posted by JonLeung![]() Sorry about the relative lack of updates. The E3 Trailer stunt I pulled was supposed to have killed my bandwidth for the month, and I thought the site was going to be shut down until the start of June. Guess we’re still here, so I guess I’d better get more updates going. I emphasize again that if you want this site to serve your needs, please request the maps you want to see in our free forum! Or just talk about anything cool. And, if you’ve got the maps, you could contribute some. Look at our Other Stuff section, we accept more than just maps!Site News: May 24, 2002 – 18:46:52 MST – Goodies galore… – posted by JonLeung![]() Wow, all that E3 stuff kept me distracted from the site. Now I’m back on track. Today we have the launch of the Sega Genesis section with a link to a slew of Phantasy Star III maps, and the NES section has got many new linked maps. The GB / GBC section has two new Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX maps. Also, for the GBA we have the "HFIL" area map from Dragon Ball Z: Legacy Of Goku. And also a new poll! Go nuts! And when you’re done with all that, request the maps you want to see in our free forum!Site News: May 23, 2002 – 14:51:24 MST – E3 Stunt – posted by JonLeung![]() As some of you found this site by, I pulled a little E3 stunt yesterday. I put up five GameCube game E3 trailers on a page on this site over here and between about 17:00 to about 21:00 the number of hits on this site went from like 900 to nearly 1300 before I had to take them down to save my remaining bandwidth for the month. Crazy. Those were some trailers, too. However, though it helped the number of hits to this site, it got practically no one into the forum, or at least not anywhere near as many as I expected. What’s up with that? Now that you’ve seen the trailers, don’t you want to talk about E3 in the free forum?Sorry about the lack of an update yesterday, and there might not be an atlas update today either. Too much E3 buzz. See you in the forum…Site News: May 21, 2002 – 14:23:31 MST – Boy, oh boy – posted by JonLeung![]() The expansion never ends, with a new GB / GBC section with Pokémon maps thanks to MetroidMoo. Contributions are good for the site.Where, oh where are the Sega sections? I made a Genesis section, yes, but there’s nothing to put up with it. Perhaps someone will make some Phantasy Star or Shining Force maps? Are we excited about E3 yet? Discuss it in the forum!Site News: May 20, 2002 – 09:36:42 MST – Update 64 – posted by JonLeung![]() It seems I just keep having to expand the site. After the new GBA and PS2 sections, we now have an N64 section. It’s got a map for Paper Mario by KindarSpirit. Keep the contributions coming!Site News: May 20, 2002 – 09:36:42 MST – Adventurers rejoice! – posted by JonLeung![]() Big update this morning. Tons of contributions! The GBA section has Golden Sun maps from last night, as well as some helpful Castlevania: Circle Of The Moon maps. The Super NES section has a new Chrono Trigger map. And the PSX and PS2 sections have Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X maps. Adventurers and RPGers should be happy for all this! Thanks to all of you!Site News: May 19, 2002 – 21:42:36 MST – Mega-update! – posted by JonLeung![]() I just spent the last hour or two putting the Mega Man Battle Network and Mega Man Battle Network 2 (J) maps up in our new GBA section. These maps were generously contributed by the appropriately named Mega Boy. Thanks!Request maps in our forum!Site News: May 19, 2002 – 17:24:53 MST – GTAIII! – posted by JonLeung![]() We’ve now got a new PS2 section, with some lovely Grand Theft Auto III maps to find the hidden packages. Thanks to Pulverized2000 for contributing these maps!Don’t forget that you can request maps in our forum.Site News: May 18, 2002 – 11:57:08 MST – Stop snooping and ask! – posted by JonLeung![]() I was checking the site and someone was snooping around and looking for Game Boy and Sega Genesis images and pages. Well, I’ve made their pages, and they are uploaded, but there aren’t any links to them on the left menu bar because I don’t (yet) have any maps of any Game Boy or Genesis games. If you were looking for maps for games on any console (including PCs and handhelds), why don’t you just go to the free forum and ask?If you have made maps for any game, then please contribute!Remember, just because I don’t have a link to an atlas page of your favorite console, doesn’t mean I wouldn’t host maps from games of that console. That just means I haven’t received anything for it yet! See you in the forum.Site News: May 15, 2002 – 16:33:15 MST – Two-um + Two-um = Forum – posted by JMTL![]() An old joke, I know. Anyway, I've set up a forum. We'll see what happens in 30 days. If it's not popular, I may close it for a while. This will be a good place to request maps that can be put up on our site. So, go post! Also, don't forget about the Poll.Site News: May 14, 2002 – 20:02:02 MST – Contributions! Finally! – posted by JonLeung![]() Finally, someone other than me and my brother have contributed maps to this site! ScruffyDeluxe, who runs Phuck IGN, has sent us some lovely Chrono Trigger maps which can be found in the Super NES section. See the Contribute section if you would like to send us your stuff to be proudly displayed here on this very site!Site News: May 14, 2002 – 09:16:06 MST – Your thoughts here – posted by JMTL![]() Given our current traffic, and the relative lack of complaints, it seems our layout is acceptable. One never knows, though, which is why I've set up a new poll thanks to CreateAPoll.com. Cast your vote on the left side of the screen, and of course, don't forget to email us with suggestions.Site News: May 13, 2002 – 18:47:21 MST – Affiliationism – posted by JonLeung![]() I’ve got two new affiliate sites’ links on the left bar-thingy. One is Gaming Toothpick. They’re not up and running just yet, they probably will be by E3 2002 next week. I’m mentioning it because they’ve promised to link back to me. The webmaster guy, HaZZ, seems really cool. Just before VGMaps.com launched, he was asking me to write articles for his site. He had apparently seen some supposedly knowledgeable writing of mine a few times at the GameFAQs message boards. I’m flattered. I probably will write something for his site one day.The other is Phuck IGN. Their site has some cool stuff, and especially cool are their free forums. The webmaster, ScruffyDeluxe, I believe happens to be British, and he called me a "bloody nice bloke". I like British slang. Anyway, he said he might contribute some Chrono Trigger maps to this very site. He’s given me plenty of kudos for this site, and I’ve thanked him so much he’s probably annoyed with me for doing so. Most importantly now, we link to each other. Linking is good. Remember that, kids (and webmasters). In other news, sometime shortly after my last news post, like around 2 PM, we got our 500th hit. Woo-hoo! Half a thousand. Man, that’s a lot. Site News: May 13, 2002 – 12:10:09 MST – One Week – posted by JonLeung![]() We have now been up for a whole week! I was hoping to get 500 hits within a week, but we got 496. (Reminds me of my Resident Evil completion time, heh, heh.) Still, that’s more impressive than I originally expected. I guess those are all unique hits, though…we got 232 (if memory serves) the first day alone. Thank you, for those who return. At least we’re averaging nearly 71 new and unique hits every day! Woo-hoo! I’m going to take this moment to remind you all to link to us. The more people come here, the more likely that someone (other than me, JonLeung, and my brother JMTL) will actually contribute, and the more better this site will become, until it truly is The Online Video Game Atlas, capable of serving all your video game map needs.Thank you for making this site as successful as it has been so far, by, uh, visiting! Site News: May 12, 2002 – 16:07:35 MST – What a site! – posted by JonLeung![]() My brother’s made some very neat-o maps for Blaster Master that can be found in the NES section. There are not a whole lot of games like this classic – it’s a well-designed game that’s highly underrated. Give it a shot if you can get a hold of this game. The maps look a little funny ‘cause they’re "wrap-around" maps. That is to say, if you go too far in one direction you’ll end up on the opposite side. Now my brother’s maps are great and all, but I’d like this site to have more than just my maps and his. If you can, why don’t you contribute what you have?Spread the word about this site! If you have a web page, you can link to us using the spiffy banners found in that section. Or a text link will suffice.Other News: May 12, 2002 – 16:06:28 MST – REplayed – posted by JonLeung![]() I finished Resident Evil for the second time with a close-shave time of 2:59:07…a little too close to the three hour-mark for my liking. But phew, I don’t have to do that again. Thought I’d mention it for the heck of it. Don’t forget to check out the Resident Evil maps in the GCN (GameCube) section!Site News: May 7, 2002 – 18:39:57 MST – REnewed – posted by JonLeung![]() The site was down for a part of today, but it’s back up. So what’s new now? There’s now a section for GCN (GameCube) games, to which I’ve also added some screen captured maps from the remake of Resident Evil that I took myself today after finishing it for the first time (of probably many). Maybe not too useful, those maps, but at least the section is open for future GCN maps.Site News: May 7, 2002 – 08:49:01 MST – Because links are cool – posted by JonLeung![]() I’ve now decided to implement links in the atlas to other sites with maps. Now I can have lots more content but save lots of space here! Bweeheehee. Later today, expect to see the first GameCube maps. Site News: May 6, 2002 – 19:44:38 MST – Sentiments to centennials – posted by JonLeung![]() At the five and six hour marks the average of hits was maintained. Woo-hoo! But enough of the shameless self-promotion. It has come to my attention that some people prefer 800 x 600 resolution on their monitors, and the way I had these pages set up was not the greatest for them to view. Horizontal scroll bars and whatnot. So to those who love multiples of a hundred (or at least ten), I’ve reduced the widths of all my tables to 700 and reduced the font size to 10 pt. If that doesn’t cause a bunch more bugs in the site, I guess then this is the way it will be from now on… Site News: May 6, 2002 – 16:21:03 MST – More like an ultra combo – posted by JonLeung![]() Craziness. At the four hour mark we had over 130 hits – that’s an average of over a hit every two minutes! Tell your friends, link to us – and most importantly, contribute so that the page doesn’t die once the novelty of this archive (of mostly only my works) fades away. I need your stuff… Contribute if you have some maps or art to share. Thanks in advance!Site News: May 6, 2002 – 14:28:44 MST – We’re a hit! – posted by JMTL![]() Thanks, everyone, for visiting. We’ve noticed the counter jumped from 6 to 48 in about the last 20 minutes! Webmasters, don’t forget to link to us.Site News: May 6, 2002 – 12:10:09 MST – The Real Launch Day! – posted by JonLeung![]() We are now up! Had a bunch of silly difficulties (sheesh, index.htm had to be lower case, etc.) and such that actually prevented this Site News: May 5, 2002 – 10:51:16 MST – Who am I? I’m JMTL. – posted by JMTL![]() Well, it’s still not up yet. I think I’ll take this time to add my bio in the Staff section. Read all about it (when it's up).Site News: May 2, 2002 – 09:17:14 MST – Launch Day! – posted by JonLeung![]() It’s about to be uploaded. Let’s hope this works…well, if you’re reading this, it did! Hooray! Site News: May 1, 2002 – 14:17:26 MST – May Day! – posted by JonLeung![]() I had some problems with all sorts of stuff while putting some more finishing touches to the site. But it’s all fixed now, and I added a Staff section and put alphabetical links on the maps pages to make navigating the site easier once we start amassing maps. Phew! We’re almost ready for launch. |
